Even when parents do their best, as soon as babies and toddlers start discovering the world, ailments such as colds, flatulence, or coughs are inevitable. Appropriate remedies and medications can provide relief.* With a well-stocked baby medicine cabinet, parents are well prepared from the start.

Our tips for the ideal medicine cabinet for your baby* and child

It is completely normal for parents to worry when their baby gets sick – especially in the first few months. But the good news is that many ailments can be quickly alleviated with a few tried-and-tested remedies. A well-stocked baby medicine cabinet provides reassurance and helps you to remain calm and level-headed in minor emergencies.

  • A wound cream for sore and weeping baby bottoms. The active ingredients it contains form a protective film on the skin, protecting it from drying out and promoting the healing process.
  • Defoaming drops (such as Velgastin® Flatulence Suspension) can relieve painful flatulence.
  • A glucose-mineral mixture can help with severe diarrhea or vomiting. Depending on the severity of the symptoms, a visit to the pediatrician may be necessary.
  • Ibuprofen and paracetamol, in syrup or suppository form, can be a helpful solution for pain or fever and can be used depending on the age and weight of the child.
  • A thermometer belongs in every medicine cabinet. An ear thermometer can make it easier to take the temperature of small children.
  • For colds, nasal drops with isotonic saline solution or nasal ointments (such as Nisita® nasal ointment) provide moisture and relief.
  • A children's cough syrup (such as Prospan® cough syrup) for infants is also a must: for infants under one year of age, consult your doctor first.
  • Bandages, scissors, tweezers, and a wound gel such as Tyrosur® CareExpert Wound Gel for superficial skin damage.
  • In addition to a well-stocked medicine cabinet, a first aid course for infants and babies can give parents additional confidence and guidance in dealing with emergencies. The valuable tips provided in these courses can be useful not only in the early infancy and babyhood of your child, but also throughout their entire childhood. Your midwife and pediatrician are also always competent and helpful contacts who are happy to assist you and your child.

*Our tips depend on the severity of the symptoms and their duration. If symptoms persist, there is no relief, and you feel uncertain, consult a doctor. All contraindications and dosage information mentioned are related to the age and weight of the baby. Detailed information can be found in the product package insert.
