Quality assurance at its best
1. Cultivation and raw material procurement
Ivy is a fairly undemanding plant that prefers shade, mild temperatures, and high humidity—conditions that are particularly prevalent in our latitudes. That is why we mainly use ivy grown in Germany or other European countries to produce our special ivy extract EA 575®.
The ivy is then processed at our site in Germany to produce our special ivy extract EA 575® – whose proven effectiveness depends on every single step of the processing.
2. Extraction
Through years of research, we have developed our unique, complex extraction process, which extracts our special ivy extract EA 575® according to the latest standards. To do this, the dried ivy leaves are cut and mixed with the extraction agent. This releases the substances that contain the plant's power and are important for the extract's effectiveness.
Throughout the entire extraction process, we ensure the high processing standards that characterize a quality product made in Germany.
3. Drying
Our special ivy extract EA 575® is only produced through evaporation: in a drying tower, the extraction agent is finely atomized through a nozzle at high pressure and guided downward with a hot air jet. The hot air and the fine droplet size ensure that the remaining liquid evaporates immediately and the dry extract trickles to the bottom of the dryer.
Only through this process and the ivy we use is the exclusive ivy special extract EA 575® produced, whose effectiveness has been proven in many clinical studies – and is used exclusively in Prospan® cough medicines.
4. Production and filling
Whether cough syrup, cough liquid, cough drops, lozenges, or effervescent tablets—to meet all everyday needs, our cough preparations are available in various dosage forms, to which the special ivy extract EA 575® is further processed in the final step.
After further quality controls, the various cough preparations are bottled and packaged – and are then available in local pharmacies and online to relieve patients of coughs and bronchitis as quickly and effectively as possible.
